Update, Repair and Remove buttons on "Major Upgrade"

Hello.

I had old version of the product and I created new version with update method "Major Upgrade". When I run install file with new version on machine with installed old version I get dialogs from "First Time Install " sequence.

Is it possible to get dialog with Update, Repair and Remove functionality like "MaintenanceTypeDlg" of the Maintenance sequence?

Re: Update, Repair and Remove buttons on "Major Upgrade"

Hello,

Please keep in mind that this is the normal behavior during a major upgrade. A major upgrade is essentially the removal of an older product which is replaced by a newer product.

When you try to install an application which is already installed then you will be prompted with the Modify/Repair/Remove Maintenance dialog. This is happening because Windows Installer does not allow two different MSI packages with the same Package Code to be installed on the same machine. Please take a look on the Changing Version article which may be useful to you.

If you have other questions, please let us know.

Best regards,
