Rollback issue

Seems that Adv Inst 9.8 has an issue in the rollback when the user cancel the installation in a specific process of the installation (Extracting files), this process happens almost at the beginning of the installation and it doesn’t last long. In the Media panel over the Archive section changing from LZMA compression to CAB allows a safe rollback but the behavior is odd:

CAB files case:

1. Hit “Cancel” when extracting files is going on, then click “Yes” to cancel the installation
2. Seems that the installation continues (Copy files) until an error message is found (disk1.cab not found), then click “Cancel”
3. Confirm with “Cancel” and the rollback will be safely executed

LZMA compression option case:

1. Hit “Cancel” when extracting files is going on, then click “Yes” to cancel the installation
2. Seems that the installation continues (Copy files) until an error message is found (<whatever file> file not found), then click “Cancel”
3. Confirm with “Cancel” and the rollback will be safely executed

Is there a workaround or fix for this issue?, since is confusing for normal users.

Re: Rollback issue

Hi,

Indeed, this seems to be an Advanced Installer issue. A fix will be available in a future version of Advanced Installer, thank you for bringing it to our attention.

As a workaround, you can go in the Install Parameters page and create a property with the name "ExtractFilesFirst" and value "1". In this case the files will be extracted from archive when the installation package is launched not during the "Progress Dialog".
