We use the patching mechanism from MSI to update our products. Works fine, but in control panel/software each installed patch for a product has the headline 'Update' and no other informations are provided.
Could you integrate the Table MsiPatchMetaData in the patch projects ? This makes it possible to provide further informations for the patch, such as manufacturer, support URL, display name and so on.
