Environment:

Advanced Installer 11.4 (applicable to 11.0 too)
OS: Windows 8.1
Symptom:
"Object reference not set ..." error message is displayed when attempting to open or compile any Advanced Installer project from Visual Studio (2012, 2013)

We apologize for this inconvenient.
Indeed, this seems to be a problem with the Visual Studio extension from the latest version of Advanced Installer (11.4). This is currently under investigation and as soon as I have a conclusive answer, I'll get back to you.

Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

In the meanwhile, you can uninstall the 11.4 version of Advanced Installer and install the 11.3 version. You can download an older version of Advanced Installer from your Advanced Installer – Customer Information page.

Hello,

Here is a download link for a release candidate version of Advanced Installer which includes the fix for our Visual Studio extension issue appeared in our last version of Advanced Installer.

Can you please download and install the above RC version of AI and see if the problem still persists?

This is important: Please keep in mind that in order to install the above RC version you should first manually remove the Advanced Installer 11.4 version and afterwards install the RC version.

I had the same problem with AI 11.4 and VS 2012. The prerelease build fixed the problem for me.

This was fixed in version 11.4.1 of Advanced Installer released on August 12th, 2014.
