Compatibility with Vista

Hi!
I am using Advance Installer to build MSI on Windows Vista machine.
At first time, when i am building the MSI , AI gives me a message to download some windows installer files and on pressing 'yes' it downloads some files from ww.advanceinstaller.com.
I would like to know which files has got downloaded to make my MSI compatible with Vista.
One thing more, Is my MSI will run successfully on any other machine having Windows lower versions(below Vista) or Should i check for any other compatibility issues?

I'm not sure if this will help but I just tried to load my package
on Vista Home Premium and everything worked fine.

This was using MSI not the EXE as the installer.

Those are some prerequisites (like DIFx, WI) downloaded only when is need for them. And those prerequisites are used for all Windows versions not only for Windows Vista.

One thing more, Question Is my MSI will run successfully on any other machine having Windows lower versions(below Vista) or Should i check for any other compatibility issues?

All packages (MSI or EXE) build by Advanced Installer (beginning with 4.6 version) are fully Windows Vista compatible. And also they are compatible with all Windows versions provided that the Windows Installer is present.

I just forgot to specify that i am using Advance Installer version 2.4.1.
Is this version compatible with Vista?
when i was using it to develop MSI, it asked me to download some files and on pressing 'yes', it downloads some files from "www.advanceinstaller.com".

I don't know which files are they and Will there be any problem on other machines having Windows' version lower to VISTA.

Hi Zia,

I'm afraid that 2.4.1 version of Advanced Installer is not Vista compliant.

Packages created with 2.4.1 are compatible with all Windows versions below Vista.

If I'm not wrong, there is a good free tool msi readiness analyzer from migrate2vista.com. It can check your MSIs for Vista compatibility and show you any possible issues that may occure.
