Import Existing MSI

I have a valid MSI that I would like to import and modify with Advanced Installer. Is this possible? I have tried to "open with..." but that fails immediately. I'm still test driving Adv Inst; seems like this would be a native feature.

Hi,

This is not currently supported. Reverse-engineering of an existing MSI file will be partially supported (since each product has its own installation logic) in a future version of AI.

in case it does any good I'll second this feature request. It is the only thing that is keeping me from purchasing Advanced Installer.

Hi there

I'm interested in Advanced Installer, but we have quite a few projects that have installers based on MSI. From what I can see in the application, AI doesn't support any kind of externally created setup?

Having to make brand new installs for all our applications might be somewhat tedious and error-prone. Is the importing of MSIs or perhaps WiX sources still in the pipeline?

We have this feature on our TODO list and will be available in a future version of Advanced Installer. I'm afraid I cannot give you an ETA for now.
