Updater, Auto Close, and MS Office

Is it possible to use the Auto Close functionality to close an MS Office app, such as Outlook?

I have created an Outlook add in and am using Advanded Installer to deploy it. Now I want to add updater functionality to it and need to close Outlook before applying the update. When I stumbled upon the Auto Close functionality, I got pretty excited but can't seem to figure out how to use it.

Any help would be great.

Hi Justin,

This functionality can be configured from an Updates Configuration Project. In the "Auto Close" group, press the "New" button. The Edit Auto-Close Application Dialog will pop up. You can configure the options there to help the updater identify the application that needs to be closed.

That doesn't entirely answer my question. I'm not sure what to put in the Edit Auto-Close Application Dialog to find and close Outlook.

Hello Justin,

The "Main executable path" field should be the name of the Outlook's main executable.Let's say the name is "outlook.exe", place that in this field.

For the "Window title prefix" field, open Outlook and look into the window's title bar. Place in this field the string that is always present in the title bar, usually whatever the string starts with (ex. "Outlook").
