Project File Compatability

Hi

I have had to uninstall v7.7 and install v7.6.1 due to a patch build problem. Unfortunately when I try to load the project in 7.6.1 I get the error "This project was created with a newer version of Advanced installer (7.7) and cannot be loaded."

A comparison of the project files shows no structural differences, so far as I can see. Do you agree that all I need to do is edit version="7.7" to version="7.6.1" in the relevant element in the project file ?

Code: Select all

<DOCUMENT Type="Advanced Installer" CreateVersion="7.1.1" version="7.7" Modules="enterprise" RootPath="." Language="en_GB">
There are quite a few changes since the last backup and I do not want to have to redo this work unnecessarily.

Thanks,
Alastair

Re: Project File Compatability

Hi Alastair,

It should work if the row you posted is the only one that changed. Otherwise you might risk corrupting your project.
However, when you opened your 7.6.1 project with 7.7, a back up file should have been created right next to it automatically. If your project was named abc.aip, an abc.back.aip should have been created right next to it when you opened it with AI 7.7.

Best regards,
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

OK, it looks like I'll have to redo this work :-(
