Masked Edit for User Registration dialog

Hi

Advanced Installer 7.7

If I add simple licensing to a new project (professional in the firtst instance) and set a straightforward template of <###-###-###-###> when the user comes to enter their serial number they are presented with four seperate text boxes (Classic UI) into which to enter the relevant serial number. The same will happen if I change that to server side validation. Convert this to an enterprise project and the same scenario applies.

Now if I change the theme to Graphite rather than being presented with four seperate text boxes in which to enter the serial number the end user sees just one large text box with no apparent masked edit, despite the text property on the Masked Edit Box being set to [PID Template]. Is this a bug in the Enhanced UI, or am I missing another property somewhere that I could set to correct this?

Hi Dom,

Unfortunately, the masked edit control is not available with the Enhanced UI option enabled.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I just added this improvement on our TODO list and it will be available in a future version of Advanced Installer.

Best,
Mihai

I've the same problem, when I change my project type from Professional to Enterprise. Is this a bug yet?

Re: Masked Edit for User Registration dialog

Hello,

Since this is an Enhanced UI improvement, changing the project from Professional to Enterprise shouldn't alter its behavior. You should make sure you have the Enhanced UI enabled in both projects types.

This was the only request and although it was on our TODO list, since other features had higher priority, the improvement hasn't been included yet. I just increased its priority and the development team will include it in a sooner release.

All the best,
Mihai

I notice this still isn't in the latest version. Is it going to be addressed soon? It's making me look bad.

Hello Russell and welcome to Advanced Installer forums,

Unfortunately this improvement has some limitations and cannot be implemented into the Enhanced UI by our development team.
As a workaround, you can add some text on the same dialog cautioning the user not to skip a separator.

Re: Masked Edit for User Registration dialog

Hi

Advanced Installer 11.6.1

I have a user validation set up using serial numbers configured like so <?????-?????-?????-?????-?????>

Dialog theme is set to classic (style 25). Enhanced UI is selected in the settings tab of the themes page. However when I run the installer there is no masked edit appearing for the serial number in the User Registration Dialog. In theory this was fixed back in 10.3. Has the bug resurfaced or have I missed something else that I should have done?

Regards

Correction

It works but not as expected. In other words it will automatically hyphenate after five characters (in the case of the template that I'm using) but it doesn't actually produce separate input boxes for each group that comprises the serial number which is what one would expect. As such this would appear to be a bug.

Re: Masked Edit for User Registration dialog

Hello Dom,

This is the default implementation when using "Enhanced User Interface" feature. The "License" field is a displayed as a single edit box and the input typed in at install time will be automatically validated by Advanced Installer.

Thank you for your understanding.

Daniel
