Edit external INI file

Hello

I don't find informatmation how can I update external.ini file.

Problem looks like that.

Client have installed software with ADAM.INI file where he have 2 section

[Main seettings]
background=0
[View]
aacc=14

In my installer I must update this FILE ( ADD 1 new section, and update 1 ). I can not put new ADAM.INI file to installer because override old with new file doing bed think that he lose all his settings.

So I must update ADAM.INI file. This update is done by me ( no promt, no dialogs, no asking user. ) Installer just search ADAM.INI , open it and editing it adding new section and update current )

Add information Like

[Main settings]
color=red
[NEW SECTION]
owner=1
4acd=0

AFTER FINISH Installer File should looks like

[Main settings]
color=red
background=0
[View]
aacc=14
[NEW SECTION]
owner=1
4acd=0

Can somebody from support explain how to achieve that and create some movie. I have Professional version only. I don't need any dialog or something like that.

Re: Edit external INI file

Hi,

In order to update an INI file you can go in the "Files and Folders" page, create a "New INI file" and add to it only the entries that you want to be updated.

I tested this in a new project and it worked as expected to me. I attached the project to this thread, so you can see how the INI file (Section.ini) is configured in the "Files and Folders" page.

Best regards,

Eusebiu

Thanks a lot for help :-) it works :-) like I want :-)

Next harder problem is doing copy of files which are installed previous and copy only this files witch are in patch added.

For this should somebody create some easy tool. :-) Like button " Do copy of files which will be installed with this installation"

Re: Edit external INI file

You're welcome Adam. I'm glad you got this working.

I'm afraid I do not fully understand your second problem. Can you please give me more details about your scenario (maybe exemplify)?
