Installer from AI 22.0 triggers MacAfee but one created from 21.9 does not.

I built my application normally and then ran AI 21.9 to generate my installer. It created an installer that ran on Windows 10 and 11 with no problems.

Then, without changing anything else, I updated AI to 22.0

Then i deleted the installer .EXE file that I had just generated (with 21.9) and ran 22.0 to generate it again. (Note that I deleted ONLY the installer. Not any of the input binaries I had just build with Visual Studio)

This new 22.0-generated installer triggers MacAfee and it fails. It pops up an error message that it stopped a threat

I don't know how to read AI logs but I have attached them in a ZIP file here. Inside the Zip file, "MSIBAF7.LOG" is the good one, built with AI 21.9. And "MSIAA35.LOG" is the one built with AI 22.0 that triggers MacAfee

I have also attached an image of the error dialog that MacAfee put up.

This is the latest MacAfee install. We even bought a new subscription to MacAfee to verify this.

Can someone help me figure out what is going on? I can even get you the two installer .EXEs if you want access to them.

Re: Installer from AI 22.0 triggers MacAfee but one created from 21.9 does not.

Hi,

I can assure you this is a false positive detection.

It seems this is a false positive detection generated by our "AI_DETECT_MODERNWIN" custom action. We will report a false positive detection for our file to McAfee team and hopefully this will be whitelisted soon. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

In the meantime the quickest way for you to have this whitelisted is to also contact the McAfee support team and submit your built EXE installer to them for whitelisting.

All the best,
Daniel
