Launch Conditions and Install Prerequisites

Hi,

Is it possible for the prerequisite installer to appear before the MSI package runs, once the launch conditions are met?

For instance, when launching the MSI package, if the system does not have .NET Framework 4.8, the launch condition will be triggered, displaying a warning or error.
The MSI will then close, and subsequently, the prerequisite installer will appear.

Thank you

Re: Launch Conditions and Install Prerequisites

Hello Kevin,

Launch conditions and the prerequisite install conditions work in similar ways, therefore I do not believe we need both there.

A prerequisite usually has an install condition that checks whether the same version of the prerequisite is already installed on the machine.

If the answer to the above is yes, then the installation is skipped. If not, then the prerequisite will be installed by the main setup.

Now, a launch condition does the same thing, except it does not install the prerequisite, but rather fails the setup and lets the user install it manually.

Depending on the user's technical knowledge, this can be fine, but wouldn't it be better if we would handle everything automatically ourselves? This will take the error pronneess caused by manual installations out of the equation.

Launch conditions in case of prerequisites are usually used in more extreme conditions - e.g. you deliver only web installers for your prerequisites and your user does not have an internet connection.

Hope this helps!
