Icon File not Updated

After changing the icon image file, the image shows correctly in Advanced Installer, but after installation the installed icons are the old file.

To reproduce:

*Make a shortcut and select an icon file
*Make some changes to the icon file and resave
*Go back to Advanced installer and set the icon image angain -You should see the edited image
*Rebuild the installation package and run

The icons are still the original image before you edited it.

Hi,

Did you previously install the "original" version of the shortcut icon? If so, this is not a bug in Advanced Installer.

Advanced Installer will install the correct, modified icon. The problem is that Windows caches icons so it will still display the old (last known) version of the icon.

Try to verify with another file browser (e.g. Total Commander) to see if the correct shortcut icon is displayed. Also please try to install the modified version on another machine.

Please tell me if the problem persists.

Thanks Mihai,

Yes, that is the problem. Is there a way to replace the cached icon with the new version from the installer?

Hi,

I am afraid that there is nothing Windows Installer can do to replace the cached icon.

However, this shouldn't be a problem on the end-user's machine. He/she will only have the last (correct) version of the icon in the Windows cache.
