problem for Hindi

I have the same problem. The bootstrapper exe can't launch the msi, because the username has Hindi characters.

This is a real problem, because in India, most users use an English Windows with a Hindi locale.

It seems that the bootstrapper exe doesn't have proper unicode support and there is no ...

Error: Update installation failed

When the user upgrades to a newer version with the auto updater, but installs to a different location than the older version, after the installation is done, the auto updater shows: "Error: Update installation failed".

My updater ini file (updates.aiu) uses the file version of the exe to check for ...

Wrong msi file generated if name has dot in 4.7

Just upgraded to 4.7 and I noticed that the generated msi has a wrong file name. It truncates everything after the dot (.).

My msi file name in de media tab is "foo-beta0.8", but the output msi is "foo-beta0".

I think this bug is quite critical, because a lot of users will encounter this issue ...

Pass HWND for all auto-updater options

Hi,

Some of our users are complaining that the dialog boxes for the auto-updater (e.g. no updates available) are not modal to the main window of our application. It would be nice if I could pass the HWND when I run "updater /checknow" or "updater /silent", like when I run "updater /configure [HWND ...

Updater not installed when upgrading

Hi Gigi,

I could reproduce it with a test project. I sent it to the support address. I narrowed it down: it only happens if I use LZMA compression.

Thanks,
Nicolas

Updater not installed when upgrading

Hi Gigi,

I am using AI 4.5, for both the new and old installer. My version of msi is: 3.1.4000.2435

I can give you the log files for the clean install and the upgrade if you like. For the clean install I can see that the updater is installed properly:

InstallFiles: File: updater.exe, Directory ...

Updater not installed when upgrading

Hi Gigi,

Thanks for your quick response. I am not touching anything in the Updater view. The updater functionality is enabled there.

When I build my installer and install it on a clean machine, everything is fine, the updater exe is installed in the installation directory. When I use the same ...

Updater not installed when upgrading

When I run my installer of a later version than installed, it uninstalls the previous version automatically.

However the updater exe is missing and then I cannot uninstall, because the installer is calling the updater exe to clean up.

If I do a clean install, everything is fine, the updater exe is ...

Files in Use is incorrect

I am installing msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll to the local application folder, NOT the system32 folder to avoid that other applications lock these dlls.

When I try to uninstall, AI pops up the "Files in Use" dialog, incorrectly showing processes that are using msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll from the ...

Error installing updates when download is very fast

I am using AdvancedInstaller 4.3. When I use the updater application to download and install updates, it fails right after download, saying "Some of the updates failed to install propertly" with an empty list. It only happens if the download is really fast (I am downloading from my local web server ...
