Jump over dialogs based on install parameter

Hi! My installer sometimes needs a reboot to be able to continue. Currently I'm using the RunOnce registry key to run my installer with a RESUME="True" parameter passed to the installer. After reboot when my installer starts I would like to jump over all the dialogs and go directly to the VerifyRead...

Re: Quick launch shortcut not visible

Hi Catalin,

Any idea if this will be fixed in a coming AI release?

Re: .NET Core IIS Hosting

Hi Catalin,

World class support as always. Thanks! A follow up on this. If I need to restart the IIS (I have a custom action for it) after .NET Core Hosting has been finished installing at what point would I invoke that CA?

.NET Core IIS Hosting

Hi, My installer installs .NET Framework 4.7.2 as a pre-install and also sets up Windows Server Roles and Features. Now I also need to add .NET Core IIS Hosting. But this package requires that the IIS is already set up before installing. Adding .NET Core IIS Hosting to Pre-Install will not work, ins...

Re: Scheduled task that starts immediately and repeats

Hi Catalin,

Thank you for your reply. I forgot to mention that the task should run regardless if the user is logged in or not. I noticed this script only runs when a user is logged in.

Scheduled task that starts immediately and repeats

Hi,

How can I, using AI, create a scheduled task that starts after the installation has finished and repeats every 10 minutes and goes on forever? I can manually set this up in Windows but not sure how to do it through AI.

Quick launch shortcut not visible

Hi,

My installer sets a quick launch shortcut to my application. It works on all OSes except on Windows Server 2019. Why is this? Is this a bug in AI or does it need to be created differently?

Re: Always install prerequisite doesn't work

Hi, I need to retract from my previous statement that it doesn't seem to work. When forcing the installation the actual prereq installer itself is the one that detects that a newer version already is installed and hence aborts the installation of a lower version. So it's outside of AI. I'll let you ...

Re: Action data maximum length?

Hmmm... I found it. My bad. Incorrect way: string actionData = session.CustomActionData.ToString(); Correct way: string actionData = session["CustomActionData"]; They will differ. The incorrect way will treat the whole string as key/value and omit duplicate ones. Took me some hours to figure this ou...

Re: Action data maximum length?

Hi Catalin, Thank you for your reply. I think I have found the issue. The action data I pass to my custom action looks simplified like this: [PARAM_1]|[PARAM_2]|[PARAM_3]|[PARAM_4]|[PARAM_5] In the custom action I get the string like so: string customData = session.CustomActionData.ToString(); Each ...

Action data maximum length?

Hi, When I pass a large string (around 300 characters) through action data (using installer properties) to a custom action that runs deferred some the string seems to be missing. Is there a maximum length that can be passed? Or is there a maxmum length what each install parameter can be? Thanks, Reg...

Re: Catch installer error code

Here is my solution to get the exit code. Implemented a custom action that runs this code: ProcessStartInfo processStartInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(); processStartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false; processStartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; processStartInfo.FileName = filename; processStartInfo.WindowStyle...
