Setup wrongly claims firefox uses some installation files

Hello,

we have an issue that on some machines during installation the setup shows the FileInUse dialog, which claims that some files that should be updated/installed are currently blocked/ in use by firefox.
We do not have any explanation for this behaviour as we’re simply installing a desktop application that does NOT have any connection to firefox.
I checked the verbose logging of the installation but unfortunately I cannot find details on this issue, I didn’t find WHICH files/regkeys are seen as blocked by firefox.

Is there any possibility to find/log detailed information about the reasons for the dialog, i.e. which files, regkeys etc. are determined to be hold by firefox so that we can investigate this issue in more detail? Or any other ideas to prevent the setup to claim about firefox?

Thanks.

Re: Setup wrongly claims firefox uses some installation files

Hello,

First of all, please accept my apologies for the delayed reply.

This dialog is shown automatically by Windows Installer during the InstallValidate standard action when the installer checks if any file is in use and if so, it displays that dialog.

Unfortunately, yes, you are right, the log file does not show much about which files are kept in use. Also, the dialog only shows the process that keeps the file(s) in use, not the files that are in use.

In order for me to further investigate this issue, could you please forward me the following resources:

- a download link for the older version of your product + the .AIP file used to build it

- a download link for the newer version of your product (the one used in the upgrade scenario) + the .AIP file used to build it

- the verbose log of the upgrade process

by e-mail at support at advancedinstaller dot com?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
