The much awaited Trusted Signing is finally here to help you simplify the process of acquiring, securing, and using your code signing certificates.
We worked with the Advanced Installer team in an effort aimed at improving the security and efficiency of software deployment processes for developers and IT professionals globally.
The integration of Trusted Signing into Advanced Installer makes it easier for tens of thousands of developers and IT professionals to sign their packages while relying on their existing Azure tenant to provide secure access management for their certificate profiles.
This integration doesn’t just streamline the code signing process; it sets a new standard for secure software distribution.
I've been using Advanced Installer for over 10 years now, and it's always been a great platform to work with.
I've tried other installers, but there was always something that didn't quite measure up. Now, in our company, we exclusively use Advanced Installer and have no plans to switch to anything else. I also want to highlight the amazing support. No matter what question you have, you'll receive help in record time. Advanced Installer is the perfect solution for both novice and experienced developers alike.
We adopted Advanced Installer after evaluating the usual suspects and have been delighted by it on a few fronts.
Firstly, there's a lot of power right there in the interface.
We do a lot of IIS and SQL work in our install, and we can configure 90% of what we want right there in the Advanced Installer front end.
We recognize the importance of using a professional tool for packaging our software.
We chose Advanced Installer due to its flexibility, technical capabilities, and progressive approach - let's appreciate that it is the first packaging software solution to support the innovative MSIX format.
Advanced Installer is, now, an intrinsic part of our software development process, with packaging outcomes complementing the quality of our products
If you want a quality installer product that “just works”, is easy to use, and is packed with features, I strongly recommend Advanced Installer.
In less than 15 minutes, I had an installation package that was ready to go. And in another 10 (only because I poked around a bit), I had a fully deployable package, complete with all my needed prerequisites, ready for distribution. Take it from me – don’t waste valuable time trying to find another solution; use Advanced Installer and spend your hours doing something more productive with your life or enjoying that time with family, and friends, or just sleeping.
We chose Advanced Installer as our application packaging solution because of its ability to automate the update process for our customers.
With Advanced Installer, we can ensure that our users have the latest version of our software without any manual intervention or disruption to their workflow.
We package and deploy software for significant enterprise customers globally, both to enable workplace modernization initiatives and to manage and evolve operations.
Advanced Installer is our first choice for packaging software because their solutions empower our teams to deliver efficiently and with high quality. We've found their interface to be easy-to-use, the support documentation robust, and they are always there to support us when we need them. With the constant evolution of the MSIX format, we are happy to have chosen a software provider that is not just keeping pace, but leading the pack.

First 3rd Party Tool with Trusted Signing Integration Highlighted @ Microsoft Build 2024
Advanced Installer did a really great thing by incorporating Trusted Signing as part of their build packaging project tooling.
This allows you to create your app package with their tools and have it signed during packaging.
This way, you don’t have to worry about which binaries need signing before packaging—it’s all handled automatically. It’s really cool to see, and we hope to see more of this going forward.

Frequently asked questions
Trusted Signing is Microsoft’s managed code signing solution that ensures secure software distribution. Integrated with Advanced Installer, it simplifies the signing process, protecting your software and users from potential threats.
You can authenticate using Azure CLI, Visual Studio, environment variables, or through browser-based authentication, giving you the flexibility to choose the best option for your workflow.
Yes, the Trusted Signing feature is included in all commercial editions of Advanced Installer.
To verify the legitimacy of your digital signature, check if it’s issued by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA). Open the file’s properties, navigate to the Digital Signatures tab, and view the certificate details. If it’s a valid certificate from a trusted CA, it’s legit. Trusted certificates often display “verified” in most operating systems.
Self-signed certificates are created by the signer and lack external validation, meaning they are generally not trusted by default and may trigger warnings. Trusted certificates, however, are issued by recognized Certificate Authorities, making them verifiable and widely accepted by operating systems and applications.
To make a self-signed certificate trusted, you can manually install it into the trusted root certification authorities store on each device that needs to trust it. This approach is usually suitable for internal or testing purposes, but it’s generally not recommended for public software distribution.
SSO (Single Sign-On) authentication in Azure allows users to access multiple applications with a single set of credentials. It simplifies access management, improves security, and enhances user convenience, especially in enterprise environments.
The Azure Service Trust Portal is a platform where you can access information about Microsoft’s security practices, compliance certifications, and audit reports. It helps you evaluate and verify the security and compliance of Microsoft’s cloud services.
Code signing certificates are digital certificates that allow developers to sign their software. This signature verifies the software’s authenticity and integrity, ensuring it hasn’t been tampered with since being signed. Trusted code signing certificates are issued by Certificate Authorities and provide users with confidence in the software’s legitimacy.
