Updater fails to install update with strange permissions error

I created an installer and enabled the updater feature. When I test the updater, it fails to perform the update. The new installer is located on the web server along with the updater text file. I also enabled the install support service as recommended.

When I check the Event Viewer I see the following System message:

Code: Select all

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

Re: Updater fails to install update with strange permissions error

Hello,

This looks like a system error that is specific to your machine, rather than something on our side.

If possible, could you please test this on multiple machines and let me know if you can reproduce this on multiple machines?

If you manage to reproduce this on multiple machines, i would advise creating a log file for the updater, as described in the following article:

Advanced Installer Updater

Additionally, the msi log would also be useful here (the MSI log can be created automatically by adding the log option in the Updater Configuration File --> Update Installer tab --> Command Line field).

After doing so, please forward me these logs file by email at support at advancedinstaller dot com.

Best regards,

Re: Updater fails to install update with strange permissions error

I resolved this issue. I was using a really old version of Advanced Installer 15.9. I upgraded my projects to the latest 22 and the issue seemed to go away.
