Hi,

I'm not sure I understand the problem you are encountering. Can you please give me more details about this? Are you referring to the icon used by a file associated with your application? If so, what icon does it use?

Re: icon display problem in file association on win98

Hi,

Perhaps this behavior is caused by the Windows icon cache. If you double-click the file does it open in your application? If so, then the icon cache prevents Windows from showing the correct icon. If double-clicking the file doesn't open it in your application please send us the AIP you are using to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate it.

Re: icon display problem in file association on win98

Hi,

Although it may not work, you can try resetting the cache like this:
- right-click on the desktop and select the "Properties" menu
- in the "Display Properties" dialog go to the "Appearance" tab
- set the "Item" combo to "Icon"
- modify the "Size" field

For the computers you can try using a custom action to reset the cache during install, but I'm not sure how this custom action would look like.

as u see second picture, when i set icon in file association and build it, it works fine in winxp.
but it doesnt work in win98.
when i create new file in desktop, i can see the broken icon in shortmenu.
and when i created new file, i can see the broken icon, is not my setting icon.

Re: icon display problem in file association on win98

Hi,

Unfortunately this behavior is caused by Windows 98, not by Windows Installer or by Advanced Installer. A workaround is to reset the icon cache like I suggested.
