Update Behavior help

Hello,

I am not sure if I am running into a bug or not but here is the situation. I have two .msi's, version 0.0.0 and 0.0.1. I have made 0.0.1 the update for 0.0.0 and I am not getting the update prompt after the specified interval of 1 day. Attached is my settings for the updates section. The updates configuration file is valid and I know the .msi is retrievable from the server because I can do it manually. Am I supposed to run the updater manually on the target computer first before it can start checking each day?

Re: Update Behavior help

Hello,

Please keep in mind that in order to check for updates using the configured behavior (from "Updater" page) the updater.exe should be manually launched (or called from your application) or should be launched using a Windows scheduled task. So, in order to achieve what you want you can create and configure Windows scheduled task from "Updater" page.

If you have any questions let us know.

Re: Update Behavior help

I cannot choose the "Automatic: using a Windows schedule task" if that's what you're saying, because I do not have Enterprise. I am a little confused why the "Manual: from application..." selection allows a "Silent mode update check" if it never actually checks for the frequency specified. Am I not understanding something? So in summary, my question is if I am supposed to manually check for updates then what significance does the frequency have?

Re: Update Behavior help

Hello,

Please keep in mind that when you run the Updater with a silent command line, if the check frequency has not passed the Updater will exit immediately. For example, when the Updater is configured to run silently it will check for updates at its first launch. After that, a check is performed only if the specified check frequency has passed. No matter how many times the Updater is launched in this period, it will simply exit. If the Updater is launched after the check frequency passes, it will check for updates.

All the best,
Daniel
