Installer is very slow

Hi, I have created a simple installer which will install around 2,75 GB of data.

For some reason it just takes more than 10 hours to be installed.

Could anyone please help me on this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the Advanced Installer Forums,

The fastest method to install your package is to have the "Place files unpacked next to the MSI database" option selected in the Configuration tab from the Builds page.

Another method to reduce the install time would be to reorganize the project into fewer components from the Organization Page.

All the best,
Mihai

Re: Installer is very slow

Hi, I have the same problem. We bought the pro version.

If everything is packaged in the .msi, the installer takes forever to start at the autorun.
If everything is packaged in an external .cab, autoruns starts pretty fast, but installer takes hours to install for a 500 Mb cab file only.

I need to package on a CD-R and leave the files outside a .cab or .msi to get a decent install time. This presents two real problems for me :

1- The files are accessible directly from the CD without a required installation, and users can manually get the files without accepting the installer license acceptation step.

2- I have to burn on a DVD.

How can I get the installer to copy the cab file in a temporary folder on the target computer prior to the decompression to get a normally expected installation time from a CD media ?

Thank you,
Sebastien

Hi Sebastien,

I'm not sure why it takes so long. Can you please send us the .AIP (project) file you are using and a verbose installation log to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can investigate them?
